The Man Himself

When it comes to the abilities of a DJ, there are a few key things to look for. Firstly, there is the ability to match beats, and blend track together either subtly or through creative means. Second, is the ability to choose the right tracks at the right time.

Those DJs that can master skill, knowledge and emotional intelligence go down in memory. Andy Baxter is one such example. Fourteen years into the Balearic DJ game, he has forged the ability to seamlessly blend a smorgasbord of genres. This is Baxter’s gift to the beautiful island of Ibiza, where he now resides all year round.

A born vinyl junkie, Andy Baxter is one of the most versatile DJs that the island has to offer. This only adds to his ability to read crowds- an important fixture in what makes a set memorable. By playing off the emotions of those present and amplifying them, Baxter is able to produce something spontaneous and truly artistic.

A Modern Ibiza Legend

This has made Baxter a man in demand for main room sets, beach bar vibes, underground hip hop nights and on-island radio shows alike. Spanning anything from Balearic sounds, hip-hop, disco and rare groove to deep, melodic house and techno, there isn’t a context Baxter can’t manage. Baxter has spent 10 years as a resident at Pacha (including world tours and winter shows), 8 years playing for We Love Sundays at Space, 8 years at Cafe Mambo and 2 years at Sankeys.

The DJ was fortunate to be part of both the opening and closing of the iconic Space. The season of 2016 on the white isle Baxter provide an impassioned farewell to the super club. This was done through holding residencies for Carl Cox’s legendary ‘Revolution’, Glitterbox and the infamous Space on Sundays.

The rest of his summer was spent supporting OpenLab at Heart, Cafe Mambo, Beachouse, El Chiringuito, Elements, Jockey Club, Ocean Beach, Cala Bonita and the brilliant Float Your Boat parties. You can also catch Andy every Saturday on Open Lab Radio at 23:00 CET, which, after his 2013 Essential Mix on Radio One, has put the man in even greater demand.

What’s Next?

Yet, Baxter has not been limited to Ibiza alone. Last winter’s tours saw Andy head over to Australasia for the 1st time. Then, after an incredible Halloween on Ibiza, and the official end to summer, Baxter started his world tour in Dubai for the brilliant SOLE DXB party, playing Underground Hip Hop Classics.

From there it’s back to his hometown of Birmingham, onto London, Leeds, Dublin, Miami, Cuba, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Switzerland and finally back to Ibiza, to prepare for his 15th season. With a humble demeanour that completely belies his masterful musical genius, Andy Baxter continues to set Ibiza, and the rest of the world, on fire.
