Festival season is just around the corner, but if you had the opportunity to pick any festival in the whole world to go to, how on earth would you be able to choose? First off there are many festivals going on throughout the world this year, boasting some incredibly amazing acts. Secondly, the venues look incredible, and just looking at pictures or videos can make it a more tough decision. Thirdly, you’ll want the best atmosphere and the best weather. Here are some of our favourites, the ones you have to drop everything to attend.
Ultra Music Festival
You’re a too late for the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, which was hosted in March during Miami Music Week. It certainly kicked off the 2017 festival season like no other festival could, boasting a range of acts which included Chase and Status, The Prodigy, Major Lazer, Tiësto, David Guetta, Zedd, and a whole range of other famous stars. You may have missed out on this festival, but you can be there in spirit by watching the live videos of the festival on YouTube. It will return to Miami next year, and although 2018 may be a bit of a wait, it’ll definitely be worth it as the Ultra Music Festival wouldn’t have been given its name if it isn’t one of the festivals you have to experience. Yet, you can still catch this festival in a number of places this year, including Bali, Tokyo, Ibiza, Santiago, and many more on the Road To Ultra, which sees the Ultra Music Festival become Ultra Worldwide, where they set up a single stage show in various countries around the world, that is not to be missed.
Creamfields
Another not to be missed is Creamfields in August. It is the biggest UK dance festival, with confirmed appearances from some of the greatest dance, house and EDM DJs around, including The Chainsmokers, Galantis, Duke Dumont, Eric Prydz, Martin Garrix, Martin Solveig, Sigala, Sigma, and a lot more.
Tomorrowland
Also, one everyone is talking about is Tomorrowland. It’s set over two weekends in Boom, Belgium; and it is already sold out – in fact, it sold out in 64 minutes. Over the six dates, there is an incredible line-up consisting of Steve Aoki, Tiësto, Gareth Emery, Martin Solveig, Alesso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, NERVO, Netsky, David Guetta, Lost Frequences, Steve Angello, Martin Garrix, Fatboy Slim, and so many more. This is always the festival of the year, the one you must not miss, but with all the tickets gone, you’ll just have to wait until 2018, unless a ticket does come your way.
Untold
Now, we must talk about Romania’s Untold festival. Last year it became one of the most must-see festivals around, with reviews off the chart. Each year is designed as a chapter, with the third chapter coming in August 2017. They’ve already announced a strong line-up of DJs, including Afrojack, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Hardwell, Marshmellow, and so much more, along with prolific artists such as Ellie Goulding, Example, Tinie Tempah, Redfoo, Lost Frequences, Loco Dice, and more, with a whole range of acts still to be announced. We expect some Romanian artists too, maybe Inna, Vanotek, DJ Sava, Alexandra Stan, Antonia, Edward Maya, and White Lynx; we can only hope. Inna performed last year, along with Martin Garrix, Borgore, Dannic, TUJAMO, Jamie Jones, and Armin van Buuren; all of who are guaranteed to perform this year, so maybe Inna will return as well. The festival will take place 3-6 August 2017 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Daydream
Another festival that Inna performed at was Daydream festival late last year in Mexico. But the original festival took place in April at Festivalpark Lomme, Belgium. This is also one you missed out on but there’s always next year. It’s not to be missed because of its gorgeous iconic staging that will have you dreaming about for years afterwards. It has the perfect name too because at this festival it will feel like a daydream; one you’ll never want to fully awake from. Full of bright colours, an energetic atmosphere, and the beautiful sun too; this is the festival you need to be at. Their line-up consisted of some amazing acts including Nicky Romero, Showtek, Felix Jaehn, NERVO, Revox, Donelly, Jimmy Clash, amongst others. If this is a festival you are unsure of, we promise it’ll be one you’ll never forget.
Electric Zoo
Then there’s the Electric Zoo festival, set in Randall’s Island Park, New York City. You might not think that would be the place for a music festival, yet they always book the biggest acts, the ones you don’t want to miss, all set up with the New York City skyline looking incredible behind. The line-up for the 2017 event has some massive names including DJ Snake, Eric Prydz, Zedd, Galantis, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Alan Walker, Martin Solveig, Nghtmre, Oliver Heldens, and loads more.
Lollapalooza
Last in our list is the Lollapalooza festival, this has had global expansion much like the Ultra Music Festival, and can now be found in various countries around the world. New for 2017 is Paris, France who has headliners, The Weeknd and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, all the while having French artists, such as Martin Solveig and DJ Snake, who are excited for Lollapalooza to come to their home country. It is set to take place at Longchamp Racecourse ground on 22-23 July 2017. The original festival will take place at Grant Park, Chicago on 3-6 August 2017, boasting an incredible line-up featuring Porter Robinson, Milky Chance, DVBBS, Kaskade, and much more. This is one of the most talked about festivals in the world, so don’t miss out on your chance to experience the Lollapalooza festival.
There are a range of festivals that we didn’t include in this article, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t drop everything to go to them – you should totally do that.
