Our antipodean relatives relish in the opportunity to break into the European market place with music that not only changes the template for what’s current … and hot, but also openly and enthusiastically reminds us that dancing is considered the greatest freedom awarded to all.

Funky, sassy and utterly irresistible, it’s no surprise that Madison Avenue’s hit “Don’t Call Me Baby” has remained a popular floorfiller since its original release in 1999. Celebrating two decades of making us dance this November, the iconic Aussie anthem by producer Andy Van and lyricist Cheyne Coates returns to our sound systems with a special 20th Anniversary edition single that features a rework by German House music icon Mousse T.

Set for re-release through renowned imprint Vicious Recordings on November 15th 2019, remix leader Mousse T has already been reporting a huge reaction from the clubbing community when teasing partygoers with a hint of his version during his DJ sets this summer, including Glitterbox in Ibiza. The 20th Anniversary Edition pack will also include a remix by Andy Van himself, under his new artist name Super Disco Club, as well as the original version. With so much interest surrounding the cult track, a second round of underground remixes is expected in early 2020.

‘Don’t Call Me Baby’ originally sold over 1 million copies, topping the charts not only in Australia and New Zealand, but also Europe, the UK and Ireland. The infectious anthem also stormed the U.S Billboard Charts and the Canadian Dance Charts. Back at home, it broke a slew of records by becoming the first Australian #1 ARIA Club Track and holding the top slot for a whopping 18 consecutive weeks.

Vicious Recordings Manager, John Course, says,“There are very few lyrics that can define an era of vocal house more so than Madison Avenue’s iconic “Don’t Call Me Baby”. The monumental smash hit of the late 90’s dominated clubs worldwide and catapulted the Australian duo into superstardom, scoring top club and pop chart positions across the UK, Europe, the U.S. and New Zealand. We challenge you not to bear a cheeky grin as you hit the dancefloor prepped for a heavyweight hook and unforgettable sleek production from these massive new remixes.”

With Vicious Recordings celebrating its own anniversary this year, an immense 25 years in the business over the course of which the label’s A&R and Madison Avenue producer Andy Van discovered greats including AVICII, Dirty South, The Potbelleez, and Angger Dimas, it’s a historical year for dance music. It’s time to flashback to the glory days of raving in the late ‘90s and early ‘2000s by, once again, getting our groove on to the unforgettable notes of “Don’t Call Me Baby!”
