Joakim Molitor is the rising Swedish DJ and producer who has already released some amazing tracks to date. Recently, he dropped his collaboration with Maia Wright, titled “Always Gonna Say Sorry”; a song we can’t get enough of. Check out our thoughts on the song here.

His career has seen him hit number one on the Beatport Progressive Chart in a collaboration with Corey James on the track “Morning Sun”. He has also done incredible remixes of songs from some big names, including Dragonette, Eric Saade, and John De Sohn.

If anything, Joakim Molitor is proving that he has what it takes to become the next big Swedish DJ and producer; especially with some incredible hits behind him such as “Open Your Eyes” and “Lovers On Film”, which has over 100,000 streams, each, on Spotify.

Lucky for us, he took some time out of his studio work to answer our questions. Check out our interview with Joakim Molitor below.

Hi Joakim, how have you been? What have you been up to?

Hey, I’m doing really good thanks. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio with different projects the last months. The Sun is also starting to show in Sweden right now, so I can’t complain.

Your new single is “Always Gonna Say Sorry”, tell us all about it.

It’s a pop mid tempo song with vocals from the phenomenal artist and singer Maia Wright. The song is about a relationship in which the two people are clearly going in different directions.

What was it like working with Maia Wright?

It was so much fun. She’s a really good singer, songwriter and a great person. 

Will we be expecting a music video? And, if so, can you reveal some details about it?

There are no plans for a music video on this one, right now! Will let you know if that changes 🙂

You’ve done plenty of remixes, should we expect remixes of “Always Gonna Say Sorry”?

There aren’t any remixes just yet, but I have some people working on it, so we’ll see!

Out of the remixes you’ve done, which ones have been your favourites?

I like the official remix for Andreas Moe – ”Cecilia” and also John De Sohn – ”Creedence” remix.

Who would you like to collaborate on a track with, and why?

I think the duo called Grey are out of this world producers. That would be sick!

Have you always wanted to be a DJ?

No, that is just something that came naturally after a few years of producing.

Your collaboration with Corey James, titled “Morning Sun”, got to the top of the Beatport Progressive Chart and is proving to be very popular, what was it like to work with him?

It was really fun and inspiring. I sent him the first idea and he liked it so we started sending files back and forth. It went pretty fast to finish that song.

What are your plans after the release of “Always Gonna Say Sorry”?

I’ll keep working on new stuff, write, produce and meet new people.

What future music should we expect from you?

I have two remixes and one more single coming out this summer. I’m really excited about them all.
