Rony Seikaly has had his feet firmly planted in the global house scene for more than a decade now, building a solid career through his natural musical ability and a powerful instinct for the dance floor. These are just some of the reasons why his productions, including those released on his own label Stride, have boasted over 15 Top100 entries on the major electronic music charts, and why he has been invited by labels such as Saved Records, Moon Harbour, Yoshitoshi Recordings and Suara, to form part of their prestigious catalogue.
And Rony Seikaly continues in that same vein, constantly pushing forward to bring the electronic music scene more fresh and exciting sounds, with the release of MOONWALK, a double album full of atmospheric, deep and suggestive house music.
From the first track, “Hide & Seek”, Rony’s message is clear: this is deep yet bright music that speaks to the soul – and that is what Rony wanted to imprint upon each cut. “Cabin Fever Ft. Ahlux” and “Dreams Feat Ahlux” are magnetic, featuring hypnotic dyes that contain high loads of modern house. “Needels” is chunky, with hypnotic drums and expertly crafted synth moods. “The Last Dance feat. MJ 23 Tribute” is a classy house roller, with well-designed synths bringing the warmth to the rubbery kicks. In “I’m Ok With Yesterday feat. Vossae”, the bass is irresistible and the silky synths, empowering the placid vocals, memorable. “Won’t Stop Now Ft. Diddy” is a brooding house track that pairs Diddy’s braggadocio swagger with Rony’s immaculate production. “Hey Man” is immersive and deep. “Damage Done” is dreamy and full of abstract musical figures. “Calling out your name” is funky, groovy and delicious. “Ephemeral” is a sensory liberation anthem… MOONWALK has been carefully confectioned by this seductive and savvy producer, with every track treated delicately and specially hand-crafted. It is a sound delight.
Contributions from artists as diverse as the prominent Grammy winner Diddy, to the popular Venezuelan-Iranian urban artist Sasha, illustrate Rony’s continued passion for explorations within a multi-faceted stylistic palette at the cutting edge of the scene, bringing new artistic approaches to the house genre.
Rony’s double album is a superb journey towards sound pleasure in 26 original cuts, in which he shows his most sincere artistic side. “It’s an eclectic group of tracks that have been created with no restrictions from any label. It’s music that I feel and what comes out is a house music story that was made from within my deeper emotions at that moment.” MOONWALK’s musical tonalities are as extensive as they are exciting, the seductive groove and the omnipresent melody making this album an emotive trip into the depths of vibrant house music.
