Pre-save Here

After reassessing his worth in this relationship, Devloe came to the realization that he was “done waiting here” as quoted in this new single, and he knew it was time to move on. Musically, the layered, soft airy synths have an almost nostalgic tone to them, possibly calling back to the underlying relief of leaving a broken relationship. Although this song is tinted with heartbreak, there are many other facets to the track that keep you coming back for more. With a drop guaranteed to get your head bopping, this multilayered track is sure to offer you a thrilling listen, leaving you with the one question: Where can I hear more?

Devloe is an artist, producer and old-school DJ that likes to describe himself as a “world-travelled military brat”, thanking Germany for his strong electronic roots and the Bay Area, California for his swagger. He spent two decades mastering his ability to create and mix electronic music before he decided it was ready for release in late 2021. Devloe was first signed by ‘Shake Music Records‘, and his impressive catalogue has landed various other deals with Tropical House Records, HighFiveMusic Records, Cracking Records and more. These connections also lead to various artist collaborations, and the producer is set to release a track with the talented Jay Bird very soon. There is a rich history behind the stage name ‘Devloe‘ that reveals a lot more about this rising producer. One aspect being the years he spent living ‘that struggling musician life’, and ending up taking a job as a software developer, or ‘dev’ for short. It also refers back to his time as a graffiti artist when he was younger, using the name ‘Develop’ as his tag. This producer has already earned himself a respectable fanbase, reaching over 6 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and there’s sure to be a lot more where that came from.

Getting To Know Devloe

Artist name and location?

Devloe – Bay Area, California

Introduce yourself in one paragraph:

Artist, producer, and DJ with 20+ years of industry experience—my music draws influence from EDM way before EDM was even a term. Though my focus is producing mainly house music, I dabble in various other genres, including hip hop. I’m from the Bay Area, California, where we have a rich history in music, especially hip hop and EDM. However, it was really my time living in Germany that introduced me to electronic music and shaped who I am today.

Were you connected with music from a young age, or anyone in particular inspired you?

In 6th grade, I got my first guitar (a classical guitar), from a yard sale in Rhode Island for $10. From there, when grunge music was peaking, I learned my first riffs—Nirvana’s “Come as You Are”, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, and “Lithium”. Shortly after, when I got my first electric guitar, a 93’ Fender Strat, I started writing my own tunes.

What first kickstarted your musical career?

As a producer releasing music, finally, it was a really rough break up that drove me to get serious about my musical career. The silver lining from my break up, was that I had a wealth of time to start dedicating myself, and that if I didn’t do this then, I might not ever get the same opportunity or have the same desire.

Tell us a more about your sound and how it has evolved.

My taste in music is very eclectic. I can appreciate music from just about any obscure genre. Though I must say again, that my sound mainly draws roots from my time spent in Germany in the early and mid 90s when techno was dominating the European scene. When I started DJing in 1999, techno evolved into trance, but to me there was something still robotic and repetitive to the sound. It wasn’t until I started DJing breaks and hip hop, that I had any notion I could infuse my sound with soul, rhythm, and swag.

Any words you want to share to encourage other artists and producers?

It’s true what they say about hard work and dedication, but more than anything it’s consistency, that can offer the best results.

Networking, consistency, character, approach… what and how do you initiate your Industry relationships?

I try to go into any relationship humble, and in a way that’s mutually beneficial, as well as genuine. Unfortunately, networking is part of the core competencies required to be an artist nowadays, so getting yourself out there and pushing boundaries is the only way to be successful.

Is there anyone specific you’d like to thank that has helped you evolve and why?

I’d like to thank a local, fellow EDM producer and buddy of mine, Jay Bird. When I started releasing music, I was thrust into a world where the only means to get your music heard was through branding, marketing, promotion, and networking. Then there’s the business admin side, which altogether, can be and was very overwhelming at first. Jay Bird, with his experience helped mentor and guide me in a way that I could find a balance and rhythm that I’m still honing today.

Access Virus C (outboard synth)

Name your favourite club or festival in the world, and how does it makes you feel?

EDC—nowhere in the world have I felt more in my element.

Name an outlandish rider request?

I’ve never had any outlandish rider requests for gear or equipment, but one time, back when I was DJing hip hop, I had a drunk club owner who requested Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” 3-4 times in one night. Normally, I would have acknowledged the request and ignored him, however, he was a competition body builder who I didn’t want to get on the bad side of 😅.

Favourite clubbing memory, who or what did it involve?

My last ex-girlfriend, I met randomly in line at Zouk Nightclub in Las Vegas, where Tiesto was headlining. We hit it off almost instantly, and were all over each other. She got a little tipsy, and at some point was falling over me, as well as all over herself. I was doing my best to keep her on her feet, as she was all over me, kissing and biting me. At some point, security had enough and told us we had to go, and escorted us out. We never did see Tiesto that night, however, we did talk a drunk Irish woman who had just lost her husband off a ledge at 5AM. Security wouldn’t do anything for her, couldn’t convince her to go, and no taxi would take a chance on her vomiting in their backseat, nor did she have any money or a phone to call for a ride share. I eventually was able to talk one of the cab drivers, after slipping him a $20, to take her back to her hotel where her son was. I sincerely hope she was able to make it out of the dark place she was in.

If you could play any venue, where would it be and why?

EDC, for obvious reasons. Who wouldn’t want to DJ the biggest rave event in the world?

Music is….. (explain more)

…life.

Music consists of the combined frequencies of sound working together synergistically. Broken down, literally, every particle in the universe operates on vibrating strings of energy. This energy can be felt more definitively with music.

What was your first music opportunity and how did it fuel your fire?

When I first started DJing in 1999, I DJ’d an underground rave with an old buddy of mine who had gotten me into DJing the first place. Feeding off the crowd energy and seeing that I had a knack at it, as well as an ear for music selection, I sought to further my skillset, as well as my vinyl collection.

Tell us more about your plans for the future.

I have a backlog of maybe two dozen tracks that I want to get mixed, mastered, and released. After that, rather than using vocal samples in my songs, I plan on exclusively using original vocals from artists I feel would be a good fit for my songs. Also, I’m currently in the process of renovating a 2500sqft warehouse with a stage, sound, and the infrastructure to throw underground raves, offering a platform for local DJs, performers, and producers, to have their music heard. Since I’m still a very little fish, in a very big pond, that is the Bay Area, CA, I’ve had little opportunities to showcase my music and talents. When asked the other day why I was spending thousands of dollars with no expectation of a return on my investment I responded, “they wouldn’t give me a platform, so I’ll just build one myself.”

Any worldly advice you’d like to share?

Balance is key, consistency is growth, and discipline is a muscle.
