Introduce yourself in one paragraph:
Hello! My name is John Fadare and I’m 14 years old. I love reading, listening to music and acting. I’m super into musical theatre and I play the Clarinet, Guitar and Piano and I also, obviously, love to sing. It was only when I was 10 that I started writing music. I wrote some songs I like and performed them at school, and I think this was when I was sure I wanted a career in music. Some people may be wondering why I’ve started at such a young age, and my answer to this is what’s the point in waiting when you can achieve your dreams now? I do think I have a lot to bring to the table and hopefully in the upcoming years I can showcase my talent to the world!
Were you connected with music from a young age, or anyone in particular inspired you?
I’ve always loved listening to music and when I was 7 years old I got the opportunity to join Rochester Cathedral Choir. From there I learnt how to sing classically, but still always enjoyed the pop side of music. I don’t think anyone particularly inspired me, at that age, but the music around me was a big influence.
What first kickstarted your musical career?
When I started playing my songs in school I think that’s what really kickstarted my career. I started to become known for my songs and people would reference them.
Tell us a more about your sound and how it has evolved.
I have a very pop/indie sound with hints of dance throughout. I used to write a lot of ballads, but in recent years my music has been leaning a lot more towards a pop sound, and I think this is the biggest evolution I’ve had in my music so far.
Any words you want to share to encourage other artists and producers?
One thing is you need to be very prepared, don’t rush into things without knowing what you’re doing, make sure everything is ready. And one more thing is make sure you put yourself out there, don’t be afraid to make the odd TikTok or two, it will really help.
Networking, consistency, character, approach… what and how do you initiate your Industry relationships?
I take a friendly approach to industry relationships, being myself, and always bringing professionalism.
Is there anyone specific you’d like to thank that has helped you evolve and why?
I think my parents have really been a driving force. They’re always encouraging me and making sure I produce the best product I can. Another is a fellow artist, Kyra Simone. She’s guided me throughout this process and been there every step of the way. I can’t thank her enough for everything.
Name 3 albums or labels that have inspired you the most.
Remember by Becky Hill was a big influence for this song. The dance vibes, the piano parts, a lot of Come Back 2 Me is similar to this.
Billie Eilish is also a big one, as being able to see what she’s achieved at such a young age is a big encouragement. One final one would be SAWAYAMA by Rina Sawayama. I love how many genres she includes, whilst remaining consistent and she also embraces her Japanese roots a lot, which is quite admirable.
What’s your favourite piece of studio equipment or software?
My favourite piece of recording equipment is the headphones/speakers, the sound produced is amazing! I remember listening to my vocals on studio headphones for the first time, it was so cool.
Name your favourite club or festival in the world, and how does it makes you feel?
My favourite would definitely be Coachella. I feel like no matter who you are or where your from Coachella gives you an opportunity to perform, and it’s so cool to see your favourite artists on the big stage. It’d be amazing to go one day, to either watch or perform.
Name an outlandish rider request?
I don’t think I’d request for anything drastic. Perhaps a short book to read.
Favourite clubbing memory, who or what did it involve?
I’m a bit too young to have gone clubbing..
What quote represents you best?
“Oh, the worst of all tragedies is not to die young, but to live until I am seventy-five and yet not ever truly to have lived.”
If you could play any venue, where would it be and why?
If I could play anywhere it would be in the O2, that would be so amazing. Many generations of great artists have performed there, and I think it’d be a great honour.
Music is….. (explain more)
To me music is so much more than something that you put on whilst going for a walk or completing homework. Music is an art. Even I don’t particularly like a song I will listen to it because I appreciate what they’ve done, and it brings people together. Everyone can bond over music.
One song you really couldn’t live without?
I don’t think I could live without Submarine by Hoody and Bronze. The song evokes good energy and is great for relaxing and I just love it.
Name drop your favourite tunes, artists or DJs (past or present)
I think Avicii is one of the greatest DJ’s to have lived. His music was truly something to be marvelled at, and may he rest in peace.
What was your first music opportunity and how did it fuel your fire?
My first musical opportunity was to sing in Rochester Cathedral Cathedral Choir, and it taught me how to sing in a group, how to read music, how to perform in front of an audience, and general life skills which I think come in handy.
Tell us more about your plans for the future.
I plan to release an album in a few years, but before then some singles/EP’s I’m also hoping to release more diverse music and really showcase my talents.
Any worldly advice you’d like to share?
Don’t procrastinate, no matter the extent we are all guilty of this, it never helps anything. Get things out of the way so that you can have time to relax in the future.
