The hit new melodic anthem ‘Smile‘ comes from the talented mind of producer ‘SpaceR‘ with a very special dedication & inspiration for the single – his daughter! The song is layered with a rich variety of instrumental timbres: thumping kicks which provide the songs driving rhythm, airy synths giving ‘Smile’ its ascending, floating tone, suspenseful strings adding a further beautiful layer to this masterpiece and sampled vocals ingenious drizzled throughout to complete this dense sonic soundscape. SpaceR is a long term legend of the Melodic Progressive House scene who established his highly esteemed reputation from 1996 onwards where he began his musical journey as a talented producer. SpaceR is remarkably talented in a broad spectrum of musical avenues as he produces, composes, records and performs all branches of Electronic music: Breakbeat, Trance, Goa, Psytrance amongst several others. Later career pathway alterations led to SpaceR providing entertainment & organizing electronic gigs all across Prague – most recently, he provides support for young, upcoming artists at Cosmic Flower Records. SpaceR is an established producer and is undeniably worthy of his significant reputation.

Introduce yourself and your project…

Hey! My name is Miroslav Bulka and I make music production as artist SpaceR from Czech Republic. I compose music since year 1996.

I am composing melodic progressive house genre tracks for last couple of years. As Ditto describes my latest released track, the song is layered with a rich variety of instrumental timbres: thumping kicks which provide the songs driving rhythm, I love to add airy synths, floating tone, suspenseful strings adding a further beautiful layer to my music and sampled vocals ingenious drizzled throughout to complete this dense sonic soundscape. The listener is entirely encapsulated by every specific soundwave taking you on a journey through the seas of life melodics, arpeggios and relax dance music, which best fits to character of those days.

I made this melodic progressive house track as my next new track to be listened and I would like to kindly ask you to be curator of this track and help to bring to more listeners to their playlists

Explain what musical genre fits you best

Its Melodic electronic music, it can be described as Melodic Progressive House, but I feel comfortable with that people like it 😊 and I am so glad, when I get message like “Keep it up, you make me better day with your music”

My music grows one day to focus more on melody chill to relax, I would like to kindly share the feelings and this music better describes this time, better fits those days, what I want to say, it’s a way of turn down the speed a little bit 😊 to tell the story to the people, to send the lovely vibes and I am so happy to make them better day or to just relax. You know, it’s from me to my listeners and from them back and it’s so beautiful and moving me forward to tell next story.

Were you connected with music from a young age and did anyone inspire you?

It’s a lot of artists in electronic music various styles. Orbital, Prodigy, Orb, Moby, Paul Van Dyk. I remember that I was listening also to happy hardcore like Thunderdome (smiling), breakbeat, but also kind like Freestylers and a lot of the others.

What kickstarted your music career?

I like to share the feeling, so happy to create atmosphere and tell the story, to get the feedback and find so much interesting people.

My music career started in 90’s with dance music, I was on the secondary school. I started to make mixes on cassettes and one of my friends told me, its great, I like your cuts, here and there, its amazing and I want to create one more for me. One of other friends told me, let’s make some music together, let’s see.

We started to make some music; another my friend has added into it. Ot was great time of ideas, 90’s here in Czech Republic was also discovering a lot of music genres like techno, trance, house, drum and bass. We had organised free parties. I remember when I visit Czechtek and a lot of young people came out to the party. I was interested to share music with the people, and I love that. Music, people, connection and sharing the feeling and atmosphere. It has been the never ending kickstarter!

Tell us more about your sound and how it’s evolved over time

90s experimenting with electronic music, from techno, breakbeat, trance, drum and bass…I can say, young age was about energy and power and vision with minimum equipment and lot of ideas and experiments with minimum equipment. Later psytrance. My friend Gappeq is one of the great tunes in this genre and I really like to listen again his tracks. I listen lot of various kind music.

The situation here in Czech Republic has been amazing with many young people come to listen various genres of the electronic dance music and a lot of talented people started own music production, so we organised almost club parties in Prague with them and I am so happy, that I was participated on this with such great people like my friend Gappeq and Forest Dump with a lot of other people, that they make their best to be possible and also remember my father has been involved to take equipments from the artist to the club,.yeah, funny moments sometimes. It was time on funny beginnings, visions, like project Space Mind System, later Space Mind and when I continued as one person event later on, SpaceR

2000 Psytrance, It was a lot of parties with friends, experimenting noises and lot of tea 😊 and lot of amazing people and power and wildeness and I met with my wife, Shakti and we came in love and lot of colours and goa trance and chill out tea room. We started to live together in one small flat and I have experienced first time tearoom in our small flat with two rooms (smiling). I was going crazy in love with my wife Gabriela music, meditation, and our daily rituals. It’s 22 years we are together.

2004 It was just my daughter Kristyna, she made next way into. It was amazing and I decided to just share with new a little baby the world, music, things around. It totally changed my life and it’s giving you so much love and live you can see and it’s a lot of time consuming and its challenge.

2005 I did not have time to make music as previous time, so I decided to find people and start making free net label Cosmic Flowers to just make the compilation and support young people to be heard, later I met Rafael making music too and we released compilations for free download and this guy definitelly help to support young people and grow up that free spirit on the net.

2007 My son Matyas was born. And Raf continued to release in Warsaw to make compilations with another people and released a lot of great artists on that free platform and it’s started to organized goa, psytrance parties. I composed some few tracks and It was available on some of the free compilation.

I spent time to be with my children and I composed the music just like one song per year, when I was able to have some time and because, I missed that too.

2015 I had experimenting with melody music.

From that time, some moment, I got feeling, that I would like to tell the story in melodic music and I heard some goa trance and later on I found some youtube music, and I got, that its called Melodic Progressive House and I found my feeling on the very similar way, I just found in my music and I found family of people around this genre and it was interesting.

I started to create new page to support new artists to get some tips and share with the people tips to make music, tips in Cubase, plugins, … I have also used.

Latest track releases

I have released my track Because Of You with the label Emergent Shores in year 2021.

The graphics on that video is made by my son Matyas and I am so proud to cooperate with him this way.

I come to get new tracks and I met with Gena from the London. She was one of my friends on facebook sending me feedback in more details and we spent some time to speak about live and my and her story and I continued my track with her comments, and it was amazing messaging, and her story come to be created my next track Gena.

The graphics on that video is made by my son Matyas and It was amazing to speak with him about the idea and built that and see, how is experienced as he was 12 years old. I spent some time to study the music, mixing, mastering and lot of around it.

Autumn 2021 – I composed my track Spacer feat. Adeline – Way Back Home I met with Adeline Um on Soundbetter, such a good platform too. Amazing vocalist and I am so happy, that I cooperated with her on this track. This track was originally created in late summer in 2021 as an instrumental. I met with Adeline in the second half of 2021 on SoundBetter; her lyrics were amazing, and she took the track to the next level. I am so happy I was able to collaborate with Adeline; her voice and lyrics send this track to a whole new dimension of possibilities. I am proud to release this track with her lyrics and vocals!

I have composed music and find the people listening to my music, so I met with Elijah, Seven Bliss. That was time, when track Because Of You has been released. This Guy, Seven Bliss making also great compilations asked me to use my track in his music set and I was so happy and honored. After some time, he just asked me for any new music and I composed track called Smile with cover picture of my daughter Kristyna and we cooperated this way on this track and I sent this track to his compilation 天百: Hopeful Skies 100, so the original version has been released on Label: Seven Bliss and I can tell its great honor to me to release my track this way. I really like his releases and I come back to listen also other artists in melodic music such a like Melodic Progressive House.

I made different version of my track Smile and distributed it on Soundcloud and with Ditto Music, Its so amazing cooperation and helped me improved also my socials and got new impulses to my work. I made the Extended version of my track Smile released with assistance of Ditto Music and I have also released the Extended version.

How do you nurture your industry relationships?

I am in though with the curators I have find and thanks to them my music is heard, its so appreciated and there are lot of also great platforms like Ditto Music, SoundCloud and for more years I am published and connected with my listeners and I can focus on my music production and I continue also to cooperate in the future, so glad, that I have possibility to make such experience.

Hard hard question. There is a lot of songs. I will try.

Mark Moncrieff and Z8phyr and their track released on Cool Breeze Music in year 2019. Melodic nice track Frozen Memories. I love arrangements of those guys. It was honour to me, that I connect with Mark and we agreed with Donovan, that I can make the remix for this song, here is the link

It does mean a lot to me, that I can do such cooperation and I am so glad for this challenge.

I received a lot of feedback and one of the guys, my friend Konrad Fryc sent me feedback to its remix, so It was amazing to prepare the remix for such great artists and my honor to be making the remix, so I decided with a lot of feedback to make one more remix called nutmeg remix, once I tried to make coffee with nutmeg as recommended by Konrad and it was amazing😊

Konrad did not want to be presented as for his feedback, so it’s so-called SpaceR nutmeg remix.

There is a lot of songs meaning a lot to me, just one more to choose, I will choose the original version of the track Frozen Memories, because it was kickstarter to me 😊

I started to find more and more such music and I share it on my playlist for few years now on growing playlist of my favourite tracks to share with people

What’s your favourite piece of studio equipment or software?

Yuh, a lot here 😊 I will mention few of them.

My favourite hardware equipment in my studio – Adam Audio T5V with Subwoofer S8V, RME Fireface UFX+, Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite USB Quad, synth Korg Minilogue xd. I appreciate also using headphones Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro, Blue Mo-Fi for bass, Audio technica ATH-M50x for mixing.

My favourite software equipment – DAW Cubase, VST plugins – I have a lot of lot of them, so just mention the favourite is by Fabfilter, Plugin Alliance. There is a lot of others.

Name your favourite club or festival and how it makes you feel

Favourite club Cross in Prague, festival Czechtek for its free spirit and kind kickstarter and lot of beautiful psytrance parties with chillouts with tearooms for its spirit and visual decorations. It’s also true, that I am not so on the parties during last times as I am busy a lot with music production. I can say, It’s free spirit, connection with the people and honor for artist every time to present the music.

Name an outlandish rider request?

It depends every time on place and the situation.

Favourite clubbing memory and who or what did it involve?

Sharing feeling and atmosphere with the people, connection to the music. Favourite clubbing memory is organising parties and involve the other artists and amazing moments during sticking posters in 90’s and later be on that event and see the fans and to be able to share music with the people is kind of beautiful memory you will keep for your live.

If you could play at any venue, where would it be and why?

To me, it’s playing my music to the listeners as much as possible and connect with them, so places, where the people come to listen on festival, music events. It’s so appreciated to get the feedback and share the vibes! Love <3

Music is….. (explain more)

The message, story, atmosphere to make better day, to get the mood. It’s kind of meditation and no matter on genre, it’s connecting people, sharing feeling and It’s kind of never ending book to me, you open it and when you read this book, you get know more and you find every day something new. It’s an inspirational tool to share the feeling, it’s kind of word and I love the creative moments and moods. It’s one part of live with the sounds coming to be heard from the beginning of live.

Music is to me one of the most words to communicate with the community of people, to tell the story and I am so happy to hear to make better day to them, inspire them the same way I have been, and I am inspired by multiple famous artists. I love music production for its free spirit, for the meditative state, for multiple aspects as the instrument to connect people and make better day

What was your first music memory and how did it fuel your fire?

Just starting music production early 90’s first time with just vision and ideas on 8-bit DA converter manually created from my friend Martin Hasek, it was amazing to listen from tape recorder Tesla B 113, to see Amiga with Filip, organising parties with Jiri Tomasek and Anatolyi Gafurov and the desire to share the music and interesting to know more to get deep into music production has been the real fire

Tell us more about your plans for the future

My every day plan is to get more knowledge, study the techniques and improve myself. I share my experiences with the people, support another artists, I prepare some home studio changes too.

I find more platforms, I am so happy, that I has been contacted by Electric Mode and It’s appreciated to me this interview, to get to more listeners and continue to grow up my music, Ditto, Soundcloud, Facebook, Youtube, to find the label release my new tracks and Thanks to lot of people supporting me and my music, so I am able to just make music production and do, what I love the most. Music.

My wish is to have more time to focus on my music production, so I am so glad to find, and I would like to find and connect more platforms and services, find curators and main stage DJs to add to their sets and playlist, internet radios and platforms to be heard. And that’s crucial to me, It’s so much appreciated and allows me to focus on my music production.

Any worldly advice you’d like to share?

Find the way you like, make the challenge, go into deep of sound, when you make your music production. Challenging to focus on information, searching and getting more information is also the way and answer for a lot of questions.
