The new release from ADRIANNA titled ‘Now You Know’ is a thumping Dance anthem: high energy, uplifting and full of feel-good sound. The track boasts a range of timbres in a broad sonic soundscape: driving kick paired with a sub-drenched 808s, arpeggiated synths complimenting the deeper textures with melodic phrases, off-beat hi-hats and catchy claps & snares paired with a combination of sampled vocals – a contrast of a powerful, deep male voice with a strong, incessantly unforgettable female vocal. ‘Now You Know,’ pays homage to the sounds of early 90s HipHop and Dance music with a fresh new twist.

GETTING TO KNOW (ADRIANNA)
The Electric Mode team took a quick time out to learn a little more about this breakthrough artist…
Introduce yourself and your project
I’m Adrianna, I just released a new single called “Now You Know”.
Explain what musical genre fits you best
Tech House is my favourite genre, but I also enjoy playing afro, progressive, techno, house, electro and some other electronic genres
Were you connected with music from a young age and did anyone inspire you?
I grew up with a lot of music around me and instruments in the home. We had a drum kit, synthesizer, steel drums, violins, chello, saxophone, and others. I went to a school with an excellent music program, sung in choir and I trained in dance from 4-18.
What kickstarted your music career?
As far as DJing I’ve been to more DJ programs then I can count but I found a deep love for tech house one summer in Montreal when my friend essentially deleted my entire music library by accident. He gave me a USB full of tech house and techno and I was like “wow, this is way better than what I’ve been playing”. Thinking about it now maybe it wasn’t by accident… That fall I went to Lisa Lashes music school and met a lot of great contacts in the UK.
Tell us more about your sound and how it’s evolved over time
When it comes to what I’ve listened to over the years it’s versatile. There was a time I liked hip-hop and alternative music and dance music. As a singer, I love voices like Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston (the greatest singer of all time in my opinion). I love some songs in any genre but when it comes to DJing, tech house really does it for me and keeps me dancing.
Any words you want to share to encourage other artists or producers?
Put in the hours, have a resilient attitude, and don’t bend so far that it breaks who you are. Surround yourself with people who have strengths you lack.
How do you nurture your industry relationships?
That comes back to attitude again. Being grateful and being nice to people goes a long way. I find people to be generally nice, but everyone is busy and has life and lots of projects so it’s important to remember when people give you their time and opportunities it’s valuable, be professional.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank that’s been crucial to your journey?
So many great teachers I’ve had! Recently I did some courses at Point Blank and the teachers were excellent- Linton and Phil. Also, BK from the Toolroom course. I could go on and on. My family is the most important to me, I’m lucky to have had them be really encouraging of my career choices as I was a bit of a black sheep.
Name 3 songs you love and what they mean to you + YouTube links
I really obsess over new music so 3 tracks that I’ve loved to play in the last couple of months are The Attention Deficit track by Skream & Jackmaster out on Circo Loco. I love the gated vocals and drums.
Resist by Max Styler out on Off The Grid, another track when I heard it for the first time I was just like “YES” Bassline and vocal are just perfect for me.
And Sidewindah by Gorgon city who I love. I think I love it most because the gated vocal reminds me of my first choice the Attention Deficit track, but Gorgon City also released another one of my favourite songs from the summer Foggy Geezer. The sub-bass in the breakdown on that one really melts your face on the right system.
What’s your favourite piece of studio equipment or software?
Pioneer RMX-1000 is a lot of fun.
Name your favourite club or festival and how it makes you feel
I really love DC-10 in Ibiza, it’s casual and one of the places I feel like it’s really about the music.
Name an outlandish rider request.
10kg of gold bullion and 2 bowls of blue M&M’s
Favourite clubbing memory and who or what did it involve?
I started raving in Canada when I was young, about 14 actually. I have great memories of coordinating outfits with big groups of friends and dancing till the morning.
What famous quote represents you best?
“When one door closes another one opens. Or you can open the closed door. That’s how doors work.”
If you could play at any venue, where would it be and why?
Resistance and Tomorrowland are goals.
Music is….. (explain more)
Love, life, fun, therapy, company, escape. Because sound frequencies can trigger your emotions, and that’s cool.
One song you really couldn’t live without and why?
Have you heard “Now You Know” by ADRIANNA?
Namedrop your favourite 5 artists or DJs (past or present)

What was your first music memory and how did it fuel your fire?
Lots come to mind but one when I was about 7, and our class was singing to our parents. My mom was crying, and I was thinking “wow this is powerful stuff”. She cries over everything though to be fair.
