The Newcastle-based, live electronic and world influences hybrid act Kancho Club close 2023 with new single When I Feel. Released today via their own label Mambo Divino.

Marking the next chapter in Kancho Club’s growing discography of much-loved singles, When I Feel sees the duo channel their deeper-sounding electronic influences which have been crafted across North East dance floors over recent months.

The Duo State – “‘When I Feel is a more main room sound than our previous releases, we’ve been playing a lot of tracks from Saved records and Abracadbra in our live shows and we love how well their releases complement our instrumental playing, so this is something we kept in mind whilst creating this track. The lyrics speak to the physical effect music has on us when we get lost within it. When we were first drawn in by the vocal, it seemed like a typical story of meeting someone on the dance floor, but after working with it for a while we began to imagine it more as finding yourself. The words describe the music as if it were a person because the connections we feel with music are as real as the ones we have with one another. The club is our safe space, and a place where, with the right tune at the right time, we can feel complete.”

Comprised of close friends and intrinsically linked musicians Ben Fitzgerald and Thomas Dixon, who met whilst Ben was at university studying percussion and Afro-Cuban culture under the highly respected percussionist, musical director and teacher, Hammadi Valdes, and Tom was studying Jazz at the prolific Sage Gateshead, Kancho Club’s love for traditional Latin and African music shines through both the studio output and live performances.

After years of playing locally and internationally in their neo-soul and jazz projects called Portraits and DILUTEY JUICE, Kancho Club incorporate live instrumentation via percussion and saxophone within each of their DJ sets to bring to life their own vision and style of how dance and world music influences should be experienced.

In quick succession, Kancho Club have quickly turned the heads of new fans and the music industry alike with their flair and ability to conjure unique dance-floor-focused productions and captivating live performances. First arriving with their debut single Say It Baby in April of this year, Kancho Club seek to explore and unite fans from both world music and electronic genres. Following the success of Say It Bay, which marked Kancho Club’s entrance into electronic music, June 2023 saw the duo release Drown in collaboration with neo-soul songstress Frankie Jobling.

Most recently, Kancho Club returned in September 2023 to collaborate with one of Soul, Latin fusion, Disco and House music’s most recognisable voices, Andre Espeut. Andre has released on an array of leading labels including Defected Records, Tokyo Dawn, Bar de Lune, Raw Fusion, Ghetto Freaks, along with also being the lead vocalist of bands Los Charly’s Orchestra, Afriquoi and Masterman. Titled Cobalt, the track picked up swift support from leading industry tastemakers including Jamz Supernova on Selector Radio, Attack Magazine, Electronic Groove, 15 Questions, Solar Radio, BBC Radio Newcastle and many more.

Moving forward into next year, 2024 will see Kancho Club drop their debut EP which is set to further showcase the rising duo’s adept ability to merge both dance floor and world music influences.
