Lost Souls of Saturn (LSOS)—the visionary duo composed of Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa, along with select collaborators—are redefining the boundaries of music, technology, and storytelling. LSOS seamlessly blends these elements into a singular, immersive experience, challenging the conventional format boundaries. To date, their creative transmissions have spanned vinyl records, digital media, art installations, artefacts, augmented reality (AR), 360-degree video, and live performances. Now, with the release of their latest album, Reality, LSOS continues their exploration of new media through an innovative venture: the comic book.
In collaboration with renowned comic book artist and AR pioneer Rob Shields and Abstract Comics co-founder Mike Bundlie, LSOS has crafted a revolutionary new type of comic book—one that transcends traditional formats. These comic pages offer a dual experience: they can be appreciated in their physical form or enhanced through cutting-edge AR technology, creating a multi-sensory fusion of sight and sound. When viewed through the LSOS mobile app, each page and panel comes to life in animated 3D, with an evolving LSOS soundtrack synchronised perfectly to the narrative. This pioneering integration of dynamic music and visual storytelling offers readers an entirely new form of artistic synesthesia.
Taking this groundbreaking concept even further, LSOS has partnered with W1 Curates, a prominent public art platform, to present their comic book series as part of a fully immersive exhibition—a first for the comic book world. Following the highly praised debut of this exhibition at W1 Curates’ Oxford Street gallery in London in February 2024 and a pop-up show at the Glastonbury Festival in June, LSOS and W1 Curates are now bringing this extraordinary experience to Los Angeles in October for a special presentation. The private view on Thursday, October 10th, will feature the U.S. live debut of Lost Souls of Saturn and mark the official U.S. release of these highly anticipated physical and digital comic books.
