Melodic melancholy meets piano and analogue synths on Adilonia Music
The interstellar character known as ALPHA has returned with a new chapter in his cosmic journey. Out now via Adilonia Music, ‘Night Swimming’ strengthens the enigma around his mission on Earth, channelling deep, melodic moods built for the club floor yet open to quiet, introspective listening. DJs can find the track on Beatport.
Produced in a single night, ‘Night Swimming’ emerges as a piece built on piano, analogue synths and driving beats. The result is a sound that conveys both peace and melancholy, balancing atmospheric lightness with rhythmic energy.
Running just under six minutes, the track opens with a heavy kick drum, chimes and layered melodies. Within the first thirty seconds, ‘Night Swimming’ already reveals its dancefloor nature, though it remains deeply introspective. By the two-minute mark, the listener is fully immersed in its sonic landscape. The progression grows increasingly infectious until its first vocal textures arrive, breaking the flow with hypnotic intensity. The energy is undeniable, captivating the subconscious and allowing dance to flow — ideally with eyes closed.
In an attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding this interstellar artist, Nazen Carneiro spoke with the only human known to have interacted with him: legendary techno figure Sam Paganini. But first, let’s listen:
On ALPHA’s creative process, Sam explained:
“I asked ALPHA, but he’s very evasive about his writing process. He produced the track very quickly using my studio. He started late at night and when I woke up early in the morning the track was already finished.”
Jokes aside, ALPHA’s sound already bears the hallmark of quality associated with Italian artist Sam Paganini, a global figure since the 1990s, known for bringing new perspectives while staying true to his roots.
Faithful to the mystery that surrounds him, little is known about ALPHA’s creative process. What emerges is a constant attempt to translate into music what he describes as “melodies from the planet Adilonia”. ‘Night Swimming’ deepens this concept, evoking images of vast space and endless nights, while remaining firmly connected to the language of contemporary electronic music. Sam Paganini also added:
“I hope that one day ALPHA will share more about his inspirations — perhaps the stars and his own galaxy. For me, his music conveys a sense of calm with a touch of melancholy, where piano and analogue keys take the lead.”
ALPHA debuted in July with ‘Tell the Truth’ (above) and now continues with a storyline that will unfold in chapters until 2026, the year set for the release of a full album. The next track, ‘Sky’s Too High’, arrives on 10th October, expanding even further the mythology of the interstellar traveller.
Shrouded in mystery, ALPHA continues to carve out a place in the imagination of the global electronic music scene. ‘Night Swimming’ strengthens his melodic, profound and narrative character — an experience that connects emotion and dance.
