Vaelos releases its spellbinding new single ‘Midsummer Lanterns’ on 24th July 2026. The third track from the enigmatic project within the Fae Choir Collective fuses House, Ambient Electronic, and Nordic Folk into an immersive sonic ritual.
‘Midsummer Lanterns’ masterfully blends the radiant warmth of traditional folk with the driving pulse of modern electronic music. It opens with stark vulnerability before building into lush rhythms that evoke ancient folklore through imagery of sunsets, awakening fields, and village bells. Organic textures merge with deep basslines and soaring soundscapes, turning introspective folk into a collective dancefloor celebration.
Inspired by the reclamation of ancestral rhythms in the digital age, the track pairs Dark Nordic Folk storytelling with melodic ambient house grooves. It offers both solitary reflection and festival energy, bridging ancient pagan traditions with contemporary life.
Vaelos is a cinematic electronic project from Cambridgeshire that fuses minimalist deep house with dark neofolk. Rooted in Dark Academia and ancient European lore, it balances primal vocals with hypnotic beats. Following a chronic illness and ADHD diagnosis, the artist returned to creative roots, blending coding skills with influences from The Prodigy, Rage Against the Machine, T-Rex, Wings, and labels including Tidy Boys, Ministry of Sound, and Motown.
Operating as a faceless AI construct on the independent Brown Poppy Bag label alongside Fae Choir, Vaelos pushes genre boundaries to reach new audiences with this distinctive Dark Neofolk meets Ambient House sound.
‘Midsummer Lanterns’ is available to stream & purchase here from July 24th.
