Seth Troxler Brings House & Techno Energy to Amsterdam’s Skatecafe

Seth Troxler brought his signature house and techno sound to a non-traditional venue in Amsterdam when he took over the city’s Skatecafe for the latest El Tony Mate Selected Session.

The invite-only event was held on 10th September, gathering a handpicked crowd for a nite that blurred the lines between skate culture and electronic music. That venue had a skate ramp right next to the dancefloor and skaters would hit the ramps before the crowd came in so the space became part of the performance.

The Detroit-raised DJ and producer, who has played everywhere from Coachella and Sónar to Burning Man, Movement and fabric London, also autographed skateboards throughout the event. Support from Dutch duo Emvae & Moxes, who delivered their energetic B2B sound across house, disco, soul, garage, minimal house and moombahton.

The Amsterdam session is one of a wider series of Selected Sessions by El Tony Mate, taking internationally renowned artists to unexpected spaces across key European markets. Previous guests include Jen Cardini, Young Marco, DJ Tennis, Bambounou, Sofia Kourtesis and EDE.

Alongside big names, the series spotlights homegrown talent, with artists joining each line-up and featuring in Local Hero pre-shoots that explore their music, background and connection to their city.

For El Tony Mate, sessions are built around intimate experiences rather than large-scale events, linking electronic music to art, creativity and local communities through its wider Culture Collective initiative.

Skatecafe was a decidedly unusual setting and Troxler’s Amsterdam appearance created a set that was about the atmosphere and setting as much as it was about the music.
