Getting to know Haums

Hey Brandon, thanks for taking the time to chat with us today! To kick things off, where in the world are you right now?
I’m in Nashville. It’s home—equal parts grounding and inspiring. It’s where I produce most of my music and build community around deeper experiences through sound.

Introduce yourself in a few sentences.
I go by HAUMS. I make melodic house and techno that’s rooted in emotional depth and spiritual curiosity. My goal is to create music that moves people—physically, emotionally, and sometimes even spiritually.

You’ve made a remarkable impact on the organic house scene with 16 top 100 tracks in just three years, including a #1 hit. For those who may be discovering your music for the first time, how would you describe the essence of HAUMS and the artistic journey that has brought you here?
HAUMS started as a way for me to process my own awakening. I was at a point in life where everything looked “successful” on the outside, but inside I felt disconnected—like I was living someone else’s version of purpose. Making music became my way of coming home to myself. It taught me how to feel more deeply, how to be still, how to move through grief and joy. It’s not just a sound project—it’s a healing one. And now I get to share that process in a way that hopefully helps other people reconnect too.

Your latest tracks “Awake Me” and “Lost on Mars” offer a glimpse into your highly anticipated album, “Squaring the Circle”. What was the creative spark behind these singles, and how does it set the tone for the full album?
Awake Me is about expanding my awareness—stepping back and realizing, “This is your life. Are you really here for it?” It’s the wake-up moment. Lost on Mars is the opposite energy—it’s playful, light, kind of like HAUMS as a kid. You’re meeting the main character of the album: a little disconnected from Earth, but dancing his way through it. Together they show both sides—awakening and escape.

Your upcoming “Squaring the Circle” album explores the concept of reconciling the infinite with the finite. How did this philosophical theme influence your sound design and production?
I didn’t set out with a concept—it revealed itself over time. I’d been making these songs for over a year, and one day I realized they were telling a story—my story. It started with gaining more awareness, a kind of awakening… and then came a really intense heartbreak that cracked me wide open. That turned into a dark night of the soul, but also this expansive period of growth. The album is me processing all of that through sound. Not with answers, but with honesty.

Can you share a specific moment where music helped you realize a personal or creative aspiration?
That shift didn’t happen all at once—it’s been unfolding over time. Music became a way for me to process these deeply personal experiences I’ve had connecting to other realms, like the Quantum Field. I remember playing one of my first truly intentional sets, and the energy in the room shifted. It wasn’t just a party—people were feeling, releasing, connecting. And in that moment, I didn’t feel so alone in what I’d been experiencing. That’s when I realized music could be a bridge—not just between people, but between worlds.

Spirituality and self-discovery seem to be key themes in your music. Do you actively draw on any particular spiritual practices or philosophies when you create?
There are practices that have supported me—like meditation, breathwork, and time in nature—but for me it’s been less about following a specific path and more about building an intuitive relationship with something greater. The more I trust my own inner voice, the more I feel connected—to myself, and to God. That connection is what fuels the music.

Your music is known for triggering emotions and movement. Do you visualize how people will experience your tracks when you’re producing them?
I used to try to force things into form—like manifesting specific outcomes or timelines. Now, I write out my intentions, my hopes and dreams—but then I let go of how they’re supposed to look. Form is constantly shifting, so I stay connected to the essence.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be?
Nox Vahn is definitely at the top of the list—his ability to tap into deep, emotionally charged music really resonates with me. I also think Julianna Barwick is incredible—her album Healing is a Miracle gave me chills the first time I heard it. If either of you are reading this… hit me up 🙂

How would you encourage emerging artists wanting to break through?
Skrillex said it best: “Success isn’t something you chase, it’s something you attract.”

If you had to describe Squaring the Circle in three words, what would they be?
