March 16, 2026

Matis Club Bologna is set to turn up the heat this March with two unmissable Saturday night specials that pay homage to club culture’s past and present in serious style, bringing together a nostalgia-soaked tribute to Italy’s 90s heyday and a high-octane headline set from one of electronic music’s most iconic figures. Each weekend is carefully curated to showcase the venue’s trademark blend of cutting-edge sound, immersive production and a discerning crowd, firmly underlining Matis’ status as one of Bologna’s essential destinations for late-night music lovers.

On Saturday 21st March, the iconic Bologna hotspot opens its doors for History 1990, a one-night-only celebration of Italy’s golden age of clubbing. Channelling the energy of the country’s most revered dancefloors, the night reunites heavyweight selectors including Les Follies de Pigalle, Ricky Montanari, Maurizio Monti, Maurizio Gubellini, Ivo Morini, Stefano Malaisi and Danilo Maraini, promising a journey through the sounds that defined a generation.

The following weekend, Saturday 28th March, sees a true dance music legend back behind the booth as Fatboy Slim returns to Matis Club for the third year running. Timed to coincide with Cosmoprof 2026, the appearance from Norman Cook brings one of electronic music’s most lauded figures – from his early days with The Housemartins to era-defining albums like “You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby”, collaborations with Madonna, David Byrne and Iggy Pop, and record-breaking shows from Brighton Beach to the Great Wall of China. Fresh from receiving the MPG Award for Outstanding Contribution to UK Music and the release of “Satisfaction Skank” alongside The Rolling Stones, Fatboy Slim’s return to Bologna looks set to be another standout chapter in his storied career.

Known for its refined atmosphere, high-spec sound and stylish crowd, Matis Club continues to cement its reputation as a go-to destination for discerning nightlife lovers with a forward-thinking yet heritage-aware programme. With previous seasons welcoming the likes of Bob Sinclar, David Morales, Francis Mercier and Seth Troxler, the venue’s spring calendar once again confirms its commitment to quality bookings and immersive themed events.

Open every Friday, Saturday and the night before holidays, Matis pairs an elegant Asian Lounge restaurant offer with after-dark sessions that stretch into the small hours. Fridays are dedicated to the ever-popular VidaLoca concept, while Saturdays rotate between one-off takeovers such as AMA, Clorophilla, Club Splendore, History, Vita and Riviera Boho – with March’s History 1990 and Fatboy Slim dates standing out as essential fixtures for anyone planning a weekend in Bologna.
