British electronic music pioneer Dave Angel continues the unveiling of his most personal and musically expansive album to date, ‘A Time And Place’, with the release of second single ‘Apocalypse’. Following the album’s opening single ‘Réflexion’, featuring celebrated trumpeter Steve Waterman, ‘Apocalypse’ explores a darker and more contemplative side of the forthcoming album, drawing upon Dave’s reflections on the state of the world, humanity and the events unfolding around us.
Built around a compelling vocal sample referencing the movement of the Earth, Adam and Eve, and the impact of life on human beings, ‘Apocalypse’ develops these ideas into a wider meditation on the world around us. The track draws inspiration from concerns surrounding global destruction and the events unfolding across the world today, forming part of its wider conceptual foundation.
Where ‘Réflexion’ offered an insight into the Jazz influences, personal experiences and human connections underpinning ‘A Time And Place’, ‘Apocalypse’ turns its attention towards broader questions about humanity and the direction of the world. The track reflects Dave’s interest in using music as a space for observation and reflection, connecting personal experience with wider social themes.
Set for release via the seminal Belgium-based label, R&S Records, ‘Apocalypse’ marks the second chapter in the lead-up to the full album, ‘A Time And Place’. Dave’s longstanding relationship with R&S spans more than 30 years, with the forthcoming album representing a significant return to the label that played an important role in establishing him as one of the UK’s most respected electronic artists.
Alongside its conceptual themes, ‘Apocalypse’ forms part of a diverse album that sees Dave drawing upon a lifetime of musical experiences and influences. The forthcoming LP features collaborations with legendary vocalist Robert Owens, guitarist Merv Carswell, Aurii Sky and trumpeter Steve Waterman, contributing to a richly varied musical palette that moves beyond the electronic music for which Dave is best known.
With ‘Apocalypse’, Dave Angel continues to reveal his ideas and experiences at the heart of ‘A Time And Place’. A track rooted in reflection on humanity, the planet and the turbulent world around us, it offers another perspective on an album that brings together decades of musical experience with deeply personal and contemporary themes.
