Craig Massie is a producer and DJ based in Nottingham, UK who goes under the alias of Senior Massie, which actually started as a duo along with good friend Rik Senior in late 2025. As Senior Massie progressed, Rik decided to step away from the project and allowed me to focus on it full time. However, the name remains the same as a reminder of how it all started!
Massie has been a touring musician, producer and professional live guitarist from the age of around 15 with past recording contacts with labels owned by the likes of Warner Music Group. With a growing love for electronic music, Senior Massie serves as a creative outlet to produce the music that he now truly believes in!
Senior Massie’s first-ever track ‘Esta Loca’, out now, has already been featured on BBC RADIO 1 Dance with Jaguar back in May. As studio sessions and music have progressed, the very talented Janne Hatula, AKA FANU (mixing and mastering engineer for John Summit, The Weeknd) has came on board and has been bringing his signature mastering sound to the Senior Massie Tracks!
When did you first begin producing electronic music?
“I first started playing around with electronic music in around 2011 when I heard Skrillex for the first time. I couldn’t get my head around how you would even begin to make sounds like that, so I went down the rabbit hole. Pretty soon after I pestered my dad for a copy of Ableton Live.”
What genres did you produce in the beginning?
“I started off as a dubstep producer under the alias of MassAffect, I’m sure there’s an EP still online somewhere. That was the first piece of electronic music I was actually proud of! After that I delved into EDM and even Electro House a bit later on.”
What brought you to the music you produce today?
“In the last few years my friends turned me on to tech house and I soon found myself getting obsessed with the Ibiza club scene and listening to all the sets from the DJs playing there across all of the clubs such as John Summit, Mau P, Blond:ish, Solomun.”
Who are a few of your influences?
“Off the top of my head I’d say: John Summit, Malone Morez, Blond:ish, Nacho Scoppa, VLTRA to name a few. And a lot of the music coming from labels such as Hellbent and Elrow.”
Looking ahead, what are your goals or plans for this year as an artist/DJ?
“I want to just keep making music, playing live and meeting like minded people. I’m really just enjoying every second of whatever journey this is at the moment!”
Do you have any exciting projects, shows, or collaborations on the horizon?
“Just recently I’ve been working with FANU (mixing engineer for John Summit) and he’s been mastering some of my music. He’s a really cool and super knowledgeable guy and I’m looking forward to working with him more! I’ve also just started my own label ‘RNXY Records’ and ‘RNXY Live’ an events company to run parallel with it as a means to release my music and get myself out there. I plan to grow the brand and give more upcoming talent a platform for their music too! We have our first event on October 3rd at NG One Club in Nottingham.”
What’s been the most rewarding part of your journey as an artist/DJ so far?
“Probably just seeing that when you actually work hard and take action, opportunity and results will always follow accordingly.”
Do you have a dream collaboration or venue you’d love to play one day?
“I’d actually love to work with the rapper Aitch one day. He’s got one of those unique voices and styles you just recognise straight away and I think he just has an overall great energy about him as a person. I’d also love to collaborate with Malone Morez, Blond:ish, Nacho Scoppa, Bob Stache. I think we could come up with some cool stuff! As for dream venue, I would absolutely love to play at Pacha, Ibiza one day. The club is so iconic and the vibe is electric. That would be a dream come true for me.”
And finally, can we expect to see more releases from you and RNXY Records this year?
“Absolutely!”
Towards the end of the Summer, the record label RNXY records has been introduced, which at the moment serves as a platform to professionally release the Senior Massie project worldwide, with hope to bring more upcoming artists and talent on board as it grows.
Alongside the record label, RNXY Live was also launched, with the aim to bring the RNXY format to the clubs and build a live community with like minded, upcoming DJs and producers. Current events are being held at NG One nightclub in Nottingham city centre with the first one taking place on Saturday October 3rd.
