Can you believe it’s been 50 years since Pacha first opened its doors? It has been a brand that has been loved by many and has sailed through the generations from 1967. It will kickstart its celebrations with an event at one of its most iconic venues, Pacha Ibiza.

On Saturday 20 May 2017, Pacha Ibiza will host the first of several 50th-anniversary events that will take place throughout the summer. The Johnny Freelance Experience will start the night off with a private cocktail at 11pm. Doors will then open at 11:30pm with Róisín Murphy (former front woman of famed Moloko) presenting a very special live performance.

DJ sets will follow from underground influencers Carl Craig & Moodymann alongside Magdalena and Angel Linde. All four DJs have had quite extensive careers that stamped a firm mark upon the industry collectively; with Angel Linde being Pacha Ibiza’s resident DJ since 2009.

Pacha is a brand that was born in 1967 in Sitges, founded by Ricardo Urgell. The name comes from Marisa Cobos, who was Ricardo Urgell’s wife; she said that he would live like a King, or a Pasha, with the money he earned. The well-known cherries logo signifies the simple fresh and daring style of their club nights.

This club brand continues to thrive, even 50 years later and has become more than just a club. It has opened up venues all around the world, from Brazil to Egypt, from Portugal to Austria; yet its main prominence is in Spain within cities such as Ibiza, Barcelona, and Mallorca. It has also expanded into a hotel business, a clothing label, a record label, fragrances and a bilingual magazine.
