K/O Omega are a collective of film score composers from the United Kingdom and France. As well as composers, they are also producers, arrangers, writers and sound engineers, all of whom are classically trained musicians.

They released their debut single, in collaboration with Bagga, in November, titled “Break Me Down”. They plan to follow this up with a brand new single at the end of July. Also, they told Electric Mode that they are working on a debut album, as well as a film score in Paris, France.

As a collective, they consist of Patrick Ruane, Clement Ignace, Angel Ignace, Shomokeh Gould, and Lea Medrano. They worked on writing the score for Flight By Night, a film that was released in December 2016, directed by Nana Obiri Yeboa.

Each of the individuals have solo projects going on, with Shomokeh Gould dropping her EP titled “Dharma”; Patrick Ruane has been working with Nightstylers, GR 101, and Lush Starrzz.

Electric Mode got the chance to send them some questions, which they answered. Check out our interview with K/O Omega below.

What advice would you offer to aspiring artists?

Just work hard, be different from everyone, break the mould, you have to create a different sound from everyone else. Believe in your self-practise and rehearse.

What inspires you?

Images inspire us to write great music, also places we visit draws inspiration especially from art galleries and other independent musicians.

Why do you do what you do?

We make music because we love to inspire and energise and bring euphoric pleasure to the listeners and our fans.

Who would you like to work with or feature alongside?

Anyone with good vibes and energy.

What would be your dream job?

We are lucky and blessed to be doing what we love already.

What’s your favourite or most inspirational place and why?

The studio!! it is very inspirational playing with the lead lights and creating and sculpting music.

If you were president of a country what would be your first rule?

Make the streaming companies pay the artists a better royalty rate.

If you weren’t human what would you be and why?

I’d probably be a non-human entity you could freak everyone out and have a massive amount of fun.

What do you dislike about the music world?

Egotistical artists, dodgy managers, not enough beer, whisky and voddy on the Ryder contracts backstage.

What food, drink, song or experience inspires you most?

Too many songs to mention. Too many great moments to choose from. Super Hot Chicken Spicy wings, lots of hot pepper sauce, and chips. Sambuka, tequila shots, beer.

What’s your favourite track of all time?

Hmm… That one is tough as there are too many good tracks to choose from.

Is the artistic life lonely? What do you do to counteract it?

It can be very lonely but we are a tight knit crew and are great friends who support and help each other out in a crisis.

What makes you angry?

The wheel of death, spinning on the mac when it crashes.

What has been a seminal experience either as a clubber or as an artist?

Just having a great night out with the gang. Losing a couple of days and waking up in a strange house in another country and wondering how we ended up there.

What quote best explains your outlook on life?

Work hard, play even harder, remain focused, accomplish all of your tasks and goals, don’t listen to anybody except close friends and family, ignore the critics and always follow your dreams. Never put up with naysayers and always keep your circle of friends tight; plus get drunk once in a while, dance on tables, go out and enjoy your life and be creative, have lots of fun with the opposite sex.

What do you love about the music world?

Constant bursts of creativity!! Jamming with other artists, checking out new talent coming through!! Going to loads of gigs to check out and support fellow artists, seeing real artists perform real musicianship. good burger stands at festivals but must have hot pepper sauce or tabasco!!

What is your dream project or collaboration?

We are doing that already.

What superpower would you have and why?

Would not like to have a superpower as people would fear you and try to attack you. Also, the pressure of it all, imagine being invisible you would get squashed when you crossed the road, people stepping on you etc. but, on the upside, you could have a lot of fun with it but, nah, with great power comes great responsibility.

How has your sound or performance evolved?

We are constantly evolving and growing nurturing our strengths and weaknesses and always improving ourselves. Just like plants do.

What the hardest thing about what you do?

Convincing the A&R who never know what they want because usually, they like reading their diary and looking at the floor, picking their nose, scratching their butts, then start talking about the universe and how it works, then talk about aliens, then the latest films, then after all of that, have a beer and talk about the next single.

What research do you do?

We always do a lot of research studying the different genres read about the people that inspire us. Dig deeper and find out everything that we can, that way we can explore every avenue of what we want until we are all happy. We have many influences from classical all the way up to drum n bass. Explore every avenue, leave no stone overturned and question everything.

What do you like about your work?

Inspiring others to be different. Sharing ideas. Creating, Writing, Producing

Professionally, what’s your goal?

The goal is to push the envelope and bring good tones, explore all facets of music, have great fun doing it, give enjoyment to people with our music and just keep doing what we do.

We had a number one with a Liz Scott Remix “Sweet Love” on King of Spins Chart.
