The Federal finance court in Germany has recently declared that Techno is Music, and the DJ is a Musician.
Yes, we know what you are thinking… “what was it before?” This all has to do with taxation purposes, treating nightclubs as concerts and how this can be clearly defined.
Clubs now must only pay 7% tax on ticket sales instead of 19%. Tax cuts are calculated based on whether the “average visitor” is there for the music, or are they just coming to dance and party where the full sales tax will be due.
Great news for Techno lovers everywhere, and especially in Germany, who are actively supporting our Nightlife industry in the face of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
