Amazona is a vibrant, visual brand-new concept party by DJ Eli Rojas at day-to-night venue Blue Marlin, Ibiza.
Every Friday, incredible artists teamed up with Eli to blend sensual Latin beats with electronic music, culminating in high-energy performances that had the crowds dancing and grooving all night long. We sent Sean and Amber (Kakura) to Blue Marlin to have a sit down with Eli and check out their penultimate night of the season.
An extremely talented DJ with boundless energy and warmth, Eli was born in Columbia and brings the beautiful musical influences of the South Americas, to the sandy shores of Ibiza. She’s lived in Ibiza for over 20 years and whilst Amazona is a new concept, Eli is anything but new to Blue Marlin, having transformed her incredible Eli and Friends into Amazona this year.
Blue Marlin with its stunning beachfront location and world-class sound system was the perfect host to suit the carnival fuelled beats. As Eli jumped on the decks, she took the crowd on an immersive and evocative journey through the rhythms of the Amazona. And as day turned to night, the grooves thundered on, with the iconic carnival whistles, hip-shaking dancers and percussive rhythms of salsa, reggae, Afro House and Latin sounds generated a sexy, fun and playful atmosphere into the darker hours.
As we sat down to have a chat with Eli she told us more about her inspirations and her mentor and guest DJ for the evening, Rafa Nandez continued to heat up the dance floor.
Finally a high energy set from Dosem finished a beautiful Ibizan / South America infused experience.
Guest DJs over the season ranged from; Chus, La Santa, Dj Joeski, Sparrow & Barbosa, Stones & Bones Viviana Casanova, Dosem, Felix Da Funk & many more. After an unforgettable and explosive first season, we are sure Amazona Season 2 will turn up the passion and the heat even more next year – Viva Colombia!
