One of the most revered figures in the history of house music, the globally celebrated, Grammy-winning DJ, producer and label head Roger Sanchez today releases his new studio album “Spectrum” – his first in twenty years. A true icon whose work has shaped dancefloors across decades, Sanchez marks the moment with a record that has been years in the making, previewed by three singles: “Grinnin’” (with Fedde Le Grand), “Come My Way” and “Temptation” (with Low Steppa, featuring Ragdoll). Much of “Spectrum” was written during Sanchez‘s time in Shoreditch, a period that shaped the album’s UK summer sonic influences. Its tracks move across a full range of sounds – from driving club material and dancefloor cuts to more emotional, atmospheric moments – with lyrics drawn from his own personal experiences. The album brings together collaborators spanning multiple genres and nationalities, with contributions from Melanie C, Kele Le Roc, Chico Castillo, Kelli-Leigh, Carnao Beats, Donae’O and more – a roster that matches the anticipation surrounding the record. A standout moment on the album, “How Do We Say Goodbye” was created with topline extraordinaire and ever in-demand collaborator Karen Harding, whose credits include work with MNEK, Armand Van Helden, Rudimental, Wilkinson and many more. Her soaring vocal brings both an irresistible hook and a touching sense of nostalgia, while Sanchez‘s production rises from a trance-like ambience into a powerful, climactic drop. In recent weeks, Sanchez has also stepped into the spotlight with a series of media moments, from a back-to-back set with TCTS for KISS to a television interview on Sunday Brunch.
Alongside the digital release, “Spectrum” will be available from 26th June on red transparent triple-vinyl. Designed with both the dedicated collector and the working DJ in mind, the package is completed by an exclusive limited-edition signed artcard and a download code for an unreleased bonus track. Roger Sanchez is taking “Spectrum” on the road throughout the summer. His “Flower Power” residency at the iconic Pacha Ibiza is filled with special guests, from major house names to album collaborators and rising talents alike, while the wider schedule takes in major festivals across Europe, Hacienda Classical sets in the UK, and appearances at leading clubs and parties across the continent.
““I’ve been working on this for the past six years, so it’s definitely a labour of love. During that time I got the chance to travel around the world and work with some amazing vocalists and songwriters to help me bring this project to life. I’ve got flavours from the UK, Spain, the US – all of this is part of the spectrum. This project is about music and frequencies and light: everything from the light to the soulful to the club-ready infrared, the emotionally-weighted ultraviolet. That’s what ‘Spectrum’ is all about for me.” – Roger Sanchez
